Limewire, one of the world's most popular peer-to-peer filesharing applications, has received a lawsuit from the RIAA, who are demanding $115 million in damages, claiming the application promotes the infringement of copyright. Similar applications like Grokster and Kazaa have been forced to go legal and there is speculation as to just how long Limewire will resist until they have to buckle and pay up. The existence of the popular P2P application is not under threat, but if you haven't given it a try yet, here's just what makes it a standout program.
LimeWire is the world's fastest P2P file-sharing application for all types of computer files, including music, video, pictures, games, and text documents. How To Use LimeWire?
Using LimeWire is very simple. When you first open the application it will show your connection to the program. It usually doesn't take long to connect.
On the left hand side of the application you will see a search button. In this area you will be able to search by simply selecting what you are looking for. If you want to search for music you can search by artist, type of music, or even a specific song. No matter what you want to search for make sure to put in the correct category. Keywords can often be used if you are not sure of the exact name. Once you have put in your selection simply click start. You will then see matching criteria loading into your application. There will be matches found from all around the world. Once the results stop loading, simply browse through to find the ones that you would like to download; right click the result to start the download. Within a matter of minutes depending on what you're downloading, it will be on your computer. You may do up to 5 searches at a time, which is very convenient if you need to download several things at once. You can also have the option of browsing to find more downloads by a specific user. Your downloads go directly into a folder called Shared Folder. You may change the location of where your downloads go if you desire (however it is not recommended, this could allow hackers to gain entry into your files, you can move things out of your Shared Folder as they get put there). Only downloading 3-5 things at a time will make them download faster (depending on your connection). The more you try to download at once the slower the download speed will be.
